How does it make you feel when you can not express your feelings? What would happen if you had no reaction to the joy, surprise or fear you experienced in a certain situation? A reaction that you can not give in response to an in justice may deprive you of sleep, but what if a scream that you can not give actually kills you?

Silent Scream invites you not only to an encounter with the deaths of women who have tried to protect themselves from violence, but also to an experimental journey with which all those who have not spoken out against these murders will identify.By separating the femicides we have become accustomed to in our everyday lives from those that unfortunately did not even make it into the headlines, Silent Scream puts its audience at the centre of these moments. The work makes us feel life, death and hope with all our senses. Silent Scream brings together three rooms by Aslı ATASOY ÖNER in which different possibilities of empathy can be seen, a light installation, a room with a sound installation by Mithat Can ÖNER and a video room in which the short film by Öğünç HATİPOĞLU can be seen in a mixture of different artistic disciplines.

1.Room: Light Installation
UNFINISHED CLOTHES

Women who are one of us, the ended lives and broken jukebox or system? The light inside the women who wear these dresses should never go out!

2.Room: Sound Installation
THEY MAKE NOISES , CAN YOU HEAR THEM ?

Who were these women? Why was their scream not heard? Or was it not meant to be heard?

3.Room: Short Movie
HOME IN HOME IN FIRE

A girl stands alone in front of the fire (stares at it) and dives into dreams of home! Should she stay (wait) or should she go? Should she scream softly or be silent loudly?

From 1 to 4 September 2021, Silent Scream opens its doors at Theater Haus Berlin Mitte to draw the light from extraordinary reflections to powerful buzzes and sounds, from the realities of the moment to a hopeful film. It encourages the audience to question the murders of women, accompanied by visual and auditory responses.

„LaboR  Labé“
Based on the sonnets by Louise Labé

With
Agnès Guipont  … Compositions, Vocals, Piano
Jonathan Bratoëff … Arrangements, Electric guitare

Agnes’ music brings the light of hope from Silent Scream to the audience with its rhythms.  Agnès Guipont, a transdisciplinary artist, has been working since 2018 to set the complete cycle of Louise Labé’s 24 Sonnets to music. This great 16th century French poet was a feminist before her time and urged women to leave their houseworks to learn the sciences and arts and exercise power like men.

Her sonnets have crossed the centuries and today resonate with the evolution of feminist movements and the ongoing awareness of violence against women.
